Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough investigations of liability, coverage, and quantum to provide the best defense for clients.
- Communicate proactively and timely through various channels to address inquiries professionally.
- Adjust high-complexity and large-loss casualty claims.
- Review and interpret policy wordings, determine coverage, and communicate decisions to clients.
- Establish accurate loss and expense reserves throughout the claim's lifecycle by evaluating relevant information from various sources, including independent adjusters, medical, legal, financial, and vocational.
- Ensure comprehensive investigations to determine coverages and liability, adhering to company guidelines and engaging appropriate internal and external resources when necessary.
- Coordinate and manage services with vendors and service providers such as lawyers, engineers, accountants, and health practitioners.
- Negotiate with claimants, lawyers, and other insurers to resolve claims with the best possible outcomes for clients. Manage claims in litigation, mediation, or arbitration and provide instruction to assigned counsel.
- Maintain an effective and current diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.
- Demonstrate and maintain knowledge and understanding of policy coverages, while complying with regional regulatory and licensing requirements as applicable. Stay current with legislative changes and industry trends.
- Occasionally participate in private mediation, court proceedings, and other dispute resolution as required.
- Contribute to employee development through training, technical guidance, and coaching.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional customer service skills demonstrating empathy and concern for client satisfaction.
- 5 years of insurance adjusting experience or equivalent.
- Post-secondary degree is preferred.
- Willingness to work toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and meet required licensing requirements.
- Excellent knowledge of medical and legal terminology.
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Excellent investigative and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Superior time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Strong negotiation, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
